Hearing is Believing

Again, I’ll let the word of God speak for itself:

  • I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. – Romans 1:16
  • How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? – Romans 10:14
  • Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. – Romans 10:17
  • And He (Jesus) spoke many things to them in parables, saying, “… He who has ears, let him hear. – Matthew 13:9

We think “seeing is believing”; however, the truth is that hearing is believing. We come into contact with the Trinity through hearing the word of God. As the gospel is heard, the Spirit illuminates the truth. As we respond to God with a Yes, faith is born, and we begin to participate in the fellowship of the Father and Son.
